Robert Brindley, RSMA

Robert Brindley is a member of the prestigious Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA). He has shown and sold work at the Mall Galleries, London at their annual exhibition, with the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA), the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI) and also at the Carisbrook Gallery, London with the Guild of Aviation Artists (GAvA).

In 1993, he exhibited for the first time with the Royal Society of Marine Artists and has since exhibited in marine-related shows throughout the country. In November 1997, he was elected a member and was subsequently featured on Tyne Tees Television's "A Day in the Life of...." series.

It has been primarily because of this exclusive membership that Robert Brindley's work has come to the attention of some prominent galleries where his work hangs with many of the country's leading artists, which should further enhance his already established reputation. He is listed in the current addition of "Who's Who in Art".

Born in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire in 1949, he worked in the Structural Engineering field as a Computer Aided Design Manager until 1992 when he moved to Whitby, North Yorkshire and became a full-time painter.

Working in watercolour, oil and pastel, his main inspiration is the challenge of capturing light and atmosphere in a modern, impressionistic style. He paints mainly landscape and coastal scenery around his home in North Yorkshire, or on painting trips including Cornwall, the South Coast, Wales, Scotland and further afield in Venice, France, India or anywhere where there is an opportunity to portray nature and her moods.

Although prmarily a landscape artist, he occasionally paints interiors, sometimes including a figure in the composition. As in his landscape paintings, he strives to reproduce the quality of light in the chosen subject.

Robert Brindley regularly demonstrates for Art Societies throughout the country. His work has been featured in several publications including the Dalesman, the Artist and Illustrator and the Artist and Yorkshire Life.
